Welcome aboard. Which V8 are you considering? The members here have a lot of experience and will be able to help you along the way.

Ambitious. You will have some clearance problems. Most V8 conversions are small block Ford or the GM LS series engine. The modular Ford is pretty wide.

I think you will be much happier trying either the small block Ford or the LS engine. The folks at Flyin' Miata, Monster Miata, Boss Frog, McCulley Racing Motors and others have already done the development work. Because of their work, the process is pretty well smoothed out and there are parts available. There is a lot less fabrication involved and you will get your car on the road/track much sooner.

Other members will be able to provide you with a ton of good advice on your project. They saved me a lot of time and money on what sounded like a good idea at first.

I think they look great. Some of the reviews are concerned about the speed of opening and closing. There are also H4 conversion kits to keep the factory mechanism and get the newer lighting function.
