A good wife

I am sure a lot of you have a wife as good as mine ,but I never brag on her enough
My sister passed away at a young age in 1981,she had this great big old upright piano that she cherished and had promised it to her son when she was done with it.
The wife stepped up and told his Dad why don't you let us take this to our house where you know he will get it.
She must have had a vision. It was not a month latter the brother in law had either thrown everything out or sold everything including the house and land
All this time we held onto it as the son even after growing up was helter skelter
In Nov.of 2011, the wife says it is time to let him have this piano he has settled down from what I understand and has a good wife.
He was truly overjoyed when we told him we were bringing it to him as he had no idea we still had it. He doe live a ways from us so we have not been in contact for years .
My mom came to visit us in 1980 and left in 1999 when she passed away
The wife treated her like her own mother if not better and not even I was allowed to say anything back to mom.
We had a recliner that mom sat in all the time,it had became ragged and begin to smell shortly before mom passed away.
I was going to throw it out but the wife kept saying lets wait a while. Even after mom passed away we kept that recliner in the same spot .Every so often she would say I think it is time to get rid of it
Well, finally along with the piano going to the nephew ,she not only allowed me to throw out that old worn out recliner but all of our living room furniture as well.
I ask why we were getting rid of it and she calmly says your mom says she is tired of it and needs a new one but wants one that matches the rest of our furniture
So a new recliner will soon be right where moms old one was and I gurantee no one will ever set in it.
If you come to visit right now you gotta bring your own chair ,but we do have a lot of space with the piano and everything gone.
Just not many wives would do that for a spouse or his family
Even the sons said wow you mean mom finally let the recliner go they were shocked as well.
Piano 30 years
mom 19 years
recliner 30 years
Total priceless
guess that is why I have a 44 year marriage

Glad to hear you are happy after 44 years. It's a shiny light in the high divorce rate and the wishy washy habits of married couples of today.

Perhaps there is hope for us after all ;)
