Not a RWD econo car that every single FWD car wipes their asses with all day long.
I wouldn't care if it was the best handling car on the planet with a solid 250hp at the wheels, I still wouldn't buy the thing because of its hideous looks.

As for running a 1.5L engine, I think that would be good personally. The NC has grown too big in more ways than one to be a true inexpensive roadster. It's competing too much with the BMW Z4.

It says it is 2100 lbs and keeps the 2.0L engine it has now. Win-win. I don't like how any Miatas look stock so I could care less what this one looks like. If I cared about looks I wouldn't be in a Miata. It is about handling, balance, and weight. I care more about what a car can do than what it looks like.

The 2.0L is a very capable powerplant that can make 500+hp when built and turboed. There are tons of aftermarket parts for that engine already (European Ford Focus) because of all of the tuners and rally car enthusiasts across the pond. When the NCs get older and cheap enough for more widespread aftermarket modification attention you will see. I personally know MXGeorge on MX5Atlanta is making some good boosted and meth injected power with his already.
