Idle problems after power steering hose replacement
I replaced the high pressure power steering hose on my grandson's '93
I tried to get to the bottom connector by removing the air box and a water hose. That didn't work so I detached the inner tie rod, cut the old hose off with a Dremel cut off wheel and used a socket to remove the bottom connector. I put everything back the way it was as far as I can tell
Now when I start it, it idles okay for about 10 seconds and then over about 5 seconds the engine gradually slows until it dies.
I can't figure out what I could have done wrong.
Any ideas?
Thanks

A backstory here. My grandson bought this a few months ago. The high pressure hose was leaking, so he has been driving with an empty power steering pump all of this time. The throttle was high and the only way I could get it lowered was to block off the air control valve (?). It's on the intake manifold near the valve cover. It is held on with 4 bolts and has vacuum hoses hooked to it. After replacing the hose and filling up the power steering pump reservoir the idle was really low, so I unblocked it and that raised the idle up pretty close to normal. But it does this thing where it drops until it does.
