Lightened flywheel for turbo car?
I was just wondering if any of u boosted guys run a lightened flywheel? It's clutch time and I'm weighing my options... I was thinking the fm happy meal with the 10 lb lightened flywheel but didn't know if that was a good idea on a turbo car..... I put a lightened flywheel in a na mr2 a few years back and afterwards that thing revved like a flippin f1 car when I was done..
So its either that or I'm just gona run the act stage II on the stock flywheel cause that's what I ran on my old car with good results... Whuddaya think?

How much boost u running? And did you notice any difference in the way it revs with that setup?
The only reason I'm hesitant is cause I can get the act setup for like $300. If they lightened flywheel is actually noticeable though Id be very interested in the fm.

i was at 8psi on a td-04 for a while. i should be up to around 10-11 now. im not easy on clutches( i blow up 2 in my old ranger) and its taken everything i give it without any problems.
It revs a bit quicker than stock and accel is a bit easyier. i would describe it as they way it should have been stock.

I'm wondering what's currently in my car now... It felt a bit quicker than my old miata before the turbo and it holds 10 psi just fine but it's definitely soaked in some kind of fluid that's why I want to change it... It's not stock I knownthat for sure. I just don't trust any work I haven't personally done. I guess I'd just be kinda pissed if I go fm pull it apart to find a lightened flywheel in there already. Im gona have whatever's going in before I pull it apart cus my clutch job is gona be done in like 2 hrs (if i dont send the flywheel out to be resurfaced)I'm gona say after I've pulled about 10 miata transmissions.
I dont think you can tell without pulling it if I'm correct though cus I've looked up in there on numerous occasions trying to figure out what's in it...

If it only takes two hours, check and see what you have
I ran a lightened flywheel on my FM setup. Loved it. No issues for me. I just put another one on my N/A NB. Will eventually be turbo, so I changed it out when the engine was out. FM Happy Meal is amazing.

8lbs seems like overkill. 10.4lbs like the FM one seems perfect. Although I have heard that a heavier flywheel helps the turbo spool faster, something about load. I don't know though my car spooled fairly quick with the 10.4. So not sure how much truth there is.
