How does a reflector array designed for a 1/8th inch wide kernel of light on an X axis respond to a 2 inch wide kernel of light on a Z axis? It doesn't do it much good. What you end up with is lots of light sprayed in every direction and only a little being focused in the direction intended by the designer of the parabola. It creates much glare in directions that only the high beams are supposed to light up. Unless a reflector is specifically designed to make use of that shape of bulb, it will be similar to driving with normal lights in the bright setting, which tends to be judged as unkind to others.

Projectors have knives to cut light out in certain directions during low beam operation for a reason.

So, I've come to a few conclusions. HID for the low-beams! HID is awesome but without a powerful high beam to balance it out the HID 55 watt low beams (projector) are actually too bright for my application. I think 35 watts would be a better choice. Even with up-graded highbeams the HID's are too bright relative to the highbeams. So I think 35 watts should be plenty bright enough without over-powering the ''brights''.

So now for the ''high-beams''. I ended up putting in 80 watt super whites.

Not so bright. Not as bright as stock. Oh and blue.

So I buffed off the blue dye. (nothing else would touch it)

Much better! And white!

Well that's where I'm at now. I'm mulling over some super bright ''off-road'' driving lights that come on with my high-beams. Too many deer in these parts!
