--------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi, I think I'm gonna post my build thread here and contribute to this new forum, ... This is more a built thread or an instant build: I bought the car in August 2009: April 1989, SU RED Then it was painted Sunburst Orange (Dodge Caliber) in summer 2007 or 2008 When I bought it: https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....1&pictureid=88https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....1&pictureid=89 https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....1&pictureid=90https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....1&pictureid=91 It was bone stock with 190 000km (118 000 miles) No A/C No P/S Can't tell what package it was because it has an unpowered steering rack with Daisies, Somehow, I think the Daisies were 1991, so they most have been had lately. I think it's a base package. https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....1&pictureid=92 https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....1&pictureid=93 https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....1&pictureid=94 https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....1&pictureid=95 https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....1&pictureid=96 First step forward for a B6-T I first rebuilt the engine in May 2010 because the engine was drinking 1 Gal of oil every 1000 km (600 miles) I was looking for a bearing and gasket rebuild, the pistons and rods were fine and because the early shortnose 1.6L are suppose to be 323 GTX B6-T non turbo, I though it would be a good thing to put this B6-T to his original designed form. Here is how it was when I took it out https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....&pictureid=100 https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....&pictureid=101 https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....&pictureid=102 https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....&pictureid=103 https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....&pictureid=104 https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....&pictureid=105 https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....&pictureid=106 Rebuilding / Cleaning : Alot of carbon deposit on the pistons https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....&pictureid=107 The timing belt was about to give up https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....&pictureid=108 https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....&pictureid=109 I bought this little tool in a local Autoparts, very helpfull and specialy designed for 323 and Miata https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....&pictureid=110 Inside the block (not so bad for a 20 years old block) https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....&pictureid=111 Cleaned piston/rod https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....&pictureid=112 I don't have any picture of the head, but all valves seals were changed, the surfaces were planned and the head was deeply cleaned by Napa And, ready to go, after a big week https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....&pictureid=113 I drove the car like this for a month or two Then I did the last step to had the famous "T" at the end of B6 -Garrett T25G out of a Nissan Bluebird -BEGI 1.6L cast iron exhaust manifold -BEGI 1.6L Stainless Steel Separate dump tube 2.5" down pipe. -Flyin Miata 1.8L stainless steel turbo exhaust 2.5" straigth pipe - no cat https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....&pictureid=114 https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....&pictureid=115 https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....&pictureid=116 https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....&pictureid=117 https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....&pictureid=118 https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....&pictureid=119 https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....&pictureid=120 https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....&pictureid=121 As it was standing in September 2010: Dirty https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....&pictureid=122 Clean https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....&pictureid=123 2010-2011 Hibernation: Winter mode https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....&pictureid=124 https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....&pictureid=125 Spring checkup and first start up of the year https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....&pictureid=126 Few hours later, sitting next to my all seasons DD driver https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....&pictureid=127 Season 2011: -ARC four point rollbar -Flyin Miata front and rear sway bars -Racing Beat adjustable endlinks all around -FM V-Maxx NB convertion all around -New Rotors -EBC 1.6L green stuff all around -Autokonexion NA/NC adore bumper -25mm wheels spacers ARC roll bar https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....&pictureid=128 https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....&pictureid=129 https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....&pictureid=130 Autokonexion NA/NC adore bumper https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....&pictureid=131 https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....&pictureid=132 https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....&pictureid=133 https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....&pictureid=134 https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....&pictureid=135 https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....&pictureid=136 https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....&pictureid=137 https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....&pictureid=138 https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....&pictureid=139 FM V-Maxx https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....&pictureid=140 Comming up for next winter : -Toyota COPs conversion (harness already done) -Fidanza 8 lbs 1.8 flywheel -FM stage 2 clutch & pressure plate (Still clutch slipping....) -Denso EVO 750cc injectors -Maybe sequential fire and I would like to do sequentiel fuel, but I would need a MSII Toyota COPs with harness https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....&pictureid=141 EVO 750cc injectors https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....&pictureid=142 Sadly, I don't have any recent shot of the engine bay... Thanks, and it's not even powdercoated -cuted the valvecover -I used different type of degreaser, acetone and wire brush to get rid of all trace of oil or dirt -I pressure washed it -I cooked it to get rid of all humidity -I used an aluminium primer, 2-3 or three thin coat -I used Rustoleum Hammered exterior paint 3-4 thin coat in every angles The paint haven't chip anywhere on the VC since it has been done (July 2010) I think the secret is in the preparation, I saw powdercoated valve cover that look terrible and I'm glad it only took me a Sunday afternoon and cost $20 ** more pics of the first one, done with VHT caliper paint, no primer and only pressure washed with a degreaser, It was doing well until I accidentely put a rag with tinner on top and it took off alot of paint. Somehow this gold quickly turn into an orange/yellow gold with the heat. https://www.miataforumz.com/picture....&pictureid=163 |
Can someone edit my first post for this one ^

Alot was done yesterday
B6 heavy flywheel -> OUT B6 slippy clutch -> OUT Fidanza 7.8Lbs flywheel -> IN FM Stage 2 clutch & PP -> IN I did'nt take pictures, but we (my friend and I) did it in 6 hours where we took one and a half prying on the damn tranny because we had forgotten a bolt on the starter. My impression : A hole new car! never though a clutch might be this hard, but still drivable. The flywheel is really light! I'll have to rev match a little more now. Now I have to fix 2 leaks, one is my CAS the other one is a heater core hose. |
