Latest additions, courtesy of Artech. Flipped the mixing manifold around and blocked off the heater return for much easier turbo routing and generally easier life.

so the tube into the mixing manifold, is that in from the turbo? wouldn't you want that go through the radiator first?

I'm slightly confused as to your question, Track. You return water from the turbo. Because of how incredibly small the amount of water the turbo uses relative to what the engine uses, it cannot significantly impact temps. It might increase the rad water a couple degrees at most. If a few degrees breaks you, you have bigger problems in your coolant system than a turbo.

What's really going to stump your brain is that we all run water to the turbo after it's been heated by the engine. Then we return it even hotter.

We take the water from a point of higher pressure and return it to a point of lower pressure so it will flow. If we returned it pre-radiator then it wouldn't flow well because of a low delta P. The return would be going to a high pressure area.

To make it even more interesting, going to a thicker radiator also reduces water flow rate to the turbo and through the heater core.

take the water the from just after the water pump and problem solved...the early 1.6L and 1.8L blocks have this just above the oil feed port.

Jeez. I've got a lot here I forgot to update.

A few updates since last post:

1.8 swap, BEGi divided manifold, T28 Ch..ch..ch...churbo, COPs, intercooler, FM Happymeal, TSIs, 650cc EV14s, custom injector and COP harness...and quite a bit more!

So, here's the first big update I need to make.

A bit of a background. This car has had at least 5 paint jobs, possibly more. The previous bodywork has been all over the place in quality.

Sadly, due to no camera issues, I wasn't able to get pictures of earlier in the car bodywork process. However, PICTURE TIME! I'll throw in some commentary that you guys can blatantly mock!

Filler used red hardener, icing/glazing used blue hardener to differentiate the layers.



This is the rear passenger's quarter. As you can tell, I basically stripped the car of...all of it, because it's easier that way. This side, while it required a fair bit of bodywork, did not require nearly what the other quarter panel did.



This is a sample of the work after I shaved the antenna. It required more soldering than I am used to for this sort of thing.



Side shot of the passenger side, it had a few not-so-great spots.



Hood, fair bit of work all around, and a little bit more to go still.



Driver's fender, bit of the door. Again, a fair bit of work. There's still some work to do. This actually required a lot of soldering to finally get everything to both look and work properly, not to mention almost an entire day of work.



Rear side. Little bit left to go still.



This side required a massive amount of work, and really a full restoration job. A massive amount of studs had to be welded on, and it required a ---- ton of mudding to get right. This also required soldering holes, which made me truly sad in the pants. Some of the work here was definitely shoddy - I do not think a previous body guy knew what he was doing in this area. This required an entire day of work again just to finally get close to getting right.




Bumpers, some work to do still.

This had approximately a day left of work before it was time to prime.
