Well this motor was turbo once upon a time before i bought the car... I found the oil drian tube bung welded to the oil pan after i bought it... i compression tested it and it all checked out but i dunno the full history of the motor... Picking up one with 80k on it 2marr0 $300...

I put a custom dual setup on there today thinking maybe it was just all the oil in the glass pack in the muffler still burning out.. no go...still smoking... not so bad but a lil puff right after i boost then shift then when i hit it again i get a lil puff...

I think its excessive blowby...
I have a pretty steady smoke stream coming out of the crankcase vent tube that used to run to the intake tube.. i have a lil filter on it and its steady blowing smoke out of it.... anyone know? im pretty sure its excessive blowby... I just wanna be for sure before i go putting the new motor in it..

Ill post some pics of the setup tomorrow if i can remeber to bring the camera home.. i just gota pick out tips for the new exhaust and tweak one tail pipe and thats done too...

Dirtyturbo 02-29-2012 08:50 PM

Ok.... Me happy! No more smoke... New muffler worked... Old one must've been saturated along with the rest of my exhaust.:) took about a 20 min highway run under full boost to get it hot enough to burn the rest of the pipes before the muffler but alls good now... And I dunno if turbos have a break in period but this sucker is pullin hard now! I ran the crank vent tube out the wheel well so I can forget about the blowby for now.. Still pickin up the newish motor tomorrow but now I can take my time and build it proper.

So for sure I'll get the nice shiney tips on my new custom dual seup and put the other wheels on and post some pics now that I don't want to burn it to the ground lol! And ya ya I need to do some heat shielding around the turbo and cut vents my hood but I wanted to get the major stuff worked out first. LI'm saying this preemptively cus I know someone is gona give me isht over. it.

my recommendation for vents z34 Chevy Lumina hood vents, they are aluminum so they wont melt, and they look good too.
