Sweet deal on the tires man. Glad you got the bolts out. Uncalibrated torque wrenches make me pretty paranoid. I love the precision instruments split beam myself.

Well i expected a barely used $250 matco flex head torque wrench to be spot on.. prolly shoulda been using the 1/4 incher but i left it at work..

Anyhow engine is done... Every single gasket and seal replaced.. plastigaged and mic'ed the whole lower end but everything was spot on so i just retourqued and called it good. Put an oil pump, set of sealed power chromoly rings in her, arp head studs and a cometic headgasket. Planning on installing next weekend.. we will see.. im pretty tired after working in a shop 6 days a week and spending my last 2 sundays tearing down and rebuilding an engine...

Got that aem wbo2 to instal yet and an act clutch as a nice nightcap...

Awesome progress. That is crazy that a fairly new match would be off.

Oh ill get some up when i get to tearing it down... might not be for a number of weeks though.. work work work and then other projects on top of other projects.. gota sell a few other projects(buy/repair/sell vehicles) to continue funding this bad miata habit i got... ive got enough stuff in the works though i should be starting on the suspension part of the build in the very near future.. but ya im definetly curious what exactly was the point of failure... especially so i dont repeat it.. but i got that aem wideband now to keep a lil closer eye on a/f ratios and prolly gona get some kinda ecu here shortly cause i wanna run a solid tuned 15psi with out blowing another engine..

keep an eye out for a used megasquirt ms1 is fairly cheap used, around the 300 ballpark and will do everything you need it too and more.

ya megasquirt seems like the most viable option.. the cost vs what you get out of it seems like a no brainer... even a brand new unit. I was trying to get the aem from a supplier i have an account though but i guess they no longer make one for the first gen miatas.. i also looked at greddy& adaptronic but they're both really exspensive..
