Miata Project - From a young gun
6 Attachment(s)
Hi guys, I guess this is my first post. :D
Anyway here I go... I bought my Miata at around the end of May. I've been working part time since I turned 14 to get it. I've now been 16 for a while. In about 4 1/2 months I'll FINALLY be able to drive it. I bought a 1996 MX-5 with the Popular Equipment Package. It has 80 000 miles(Imported from the US), and it has never been winter driven. The previous owner gave me all the oil change receipts since he brought it up from the Southern US. He changed the oil every 1500-2000miles. Since I purchased it I replaced the soft top, paitned/cleaned everything, and did a few thing here and there. My next project is a good sound system, aswell as finishing it's permanent home. In a year or so I'd like to get a supercharger kit, but I'm not sure yet. Her are some pictures of my baby. The day I got it: https://www.miataforumz.com/attachme...ine=1321830821 https://www.miataforumz.com/attachme...ine=1321830821 Getting closer:https://www.miataforumz.com/attachme...ine=1321830821 https://www.miataforumz.com/attachme...ine=1321830821 Pretty... https://www.miataforumz.com/attachme...ine=1321830821 Almost clean uner the hood: https://www.miataforumz.com/attachme...ine=1321830821 |
Nice Miata!
How was your experience with the import process? Perhaps you could do a write up on how you went about it. |
Welcome to here. That's a clean car.

And since then he had it in winter storage, kept all his receipt for oil changes, parts ect. He actually brought two up Miatas from US. One for him and one for his wife. You could tell he loved his car, and he was sad to see it go. Which is the best person to buy a car from. :p

cool stuff. Are you planning to paint your pads every time you replace them? or was that just a test to see if you liked it?

@RedTurbo I'm always the young guy on the forums no matter what type. Most of the time I'm on Battlefield related forums. I've gotten used to it. And about the car, I hope to make it more "my own" after next summer. Between buying the car, paying taxes and needing money for other things to get the car going (insurence, plates, ect.) I have almost no money left. Can't wait to get some more work so I can make the car the way I want it. Also I'd like to maybe get some track days. My local track has days for the public to come drive. |
if you got xbl and forza check out the spec racing.
but i like the polished cam cover, im going to do it soon. |

I finally installed my stereo equipment. It's not done yet, I still have to clean up and put the wires where I want them. It's all hooked up and working however. As well one of the previous owners must have had an amp or two in the trunk so there are alot of extra wires I'll have to get rid of next weekend, which you will be able to see in the picture of the amp. It's all good for now though.
Alpine CDA-117 https://www.miataforumz.com/attachme...ine=1329682222 JVC KSAX4302 600watt amp https://www.miataforumz.com/attachme...ine=1329682222 Pioneer TS-A6994R 600watt 5-way 6x9 https://www.miataforumz.com/attachme...ine=1329682222 https://www.miataforumz.com/attachme...ine=1329682222 This combination really is great, and I'm impressed how good the somewhat cheap JVC amp is. The sound is so clear and so loud. I just have to watch myself with the volume my ears are already in pain. ps. I get my fulls in just ander 2 months, I'm so excited. |
The amp just floats there?

I cleaned up all the wires and put the amp where it is staying and screwed it down today. It looks 10x better now. |
haha, OK. Just making sure. You can't drive fast when your tunes are at risk of flying out of the car.

Between the stereo gear and aftermarket alarm there was alot of wires I didn't want. Just got a chance to clean up the last little bit today. I may take another quick picture tomorrow. |

Finally drove the Miata yesterday after over a year of waiting. There are a few things I want to change but overall it was amazing. Most fun car I've ever driven hands down. I still have a smile on my face.
