Default Sky Activ 6 speed automatic

Howdy. New to Miata but not to Mazda. I campaigned a retired Pro7 RX-7. JUST LOVED IT and just sold it BUTcan everyone help me gather info. about this transmission. IS IT TRACK WORTHY?? What mods are available and/or is it durable enough in stock trim. Looking to make a track day car. Any year tranny better than another?
Thanks,
Dave the newbie

Default 6-speed Sport with Adaptive Shift Logic and steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters

A little more research shows that the 1st year the 6-speed automatic is used is in 2006. I AM going to A-S-S-U-M-E that this is the latest-and-greatest of MAZDA offering. Back to my original inquiry, IS IT TRACK WORTHY?

I think you need to ask yourself, do you really want to drive an automatic on track? Other than a Double clutch style automatic, they just don't make sense. They are heavier (although not by much anymore), they have parastic loss at torque converter, and all it will take is one mis-shift at an inopportune time to throw a wrench into a delicate situation...

I'd still get the skyactive 6sp manual.
