I would look into using Frost King insulation under the carpet instead of the spray rubber. It is aluminum foil tape backed with thin foam and adhesive. It comes in 12inch by 15foot rolls at Home Depot and Lowes and is quite easy to work with. It will be a better thermal barrier than the rubber and will provide good acoustical insulative properties. There also won't be any overspray or troublesome cleanup. Just degrease the area with denatured alcohol or some other solvent beforehand and it will stick well forever, but peel up if you ever need it to.

Frost king foam insulation from lowes worked great
