Default Analyze live questions

I've been running Analyze live on my tune, and every time I do it seems to run worse. Following recommendations for starting with a new map, I have EGO set to 40 ignition events, step size of 3 and 30% authority. Does EGO fight against analyze live? I'm having some serious popping/burbling on deceleration that started tonight. Any advice/assistance would be greatly appreciated.

You should turn off EGO when using VEAL.

But, when using EGO step size 3 is a problem. Use step size 1 on EGO and only about 10-15% authority. I'm pretty sure VEAL factors in any EGO so that can screw up a table if it's going wild.

Step size is the amount of ignition events before it does something again, so it can have a huge swing in hitting the targets. Watch the EGO gauge and I bet youll see like 103% then 98% then 104% then 97% swings with the ego enrichments. Using 1 keeps it stable.

If you tune the PID, you can track EGO much better.

Decel popping and burbling could be an overrun issue. It's always good to disable that and allow VEAL to tune in low load areas. Make sure when it is enabled you're cutting fuel cutting when you pull vacuum again.

Cool, I'll give it a go. I was following a write-up by Joe Perez that said when starting out, use a large step size, broad authority and small ignition events. (the numbers I put in were from the write-up)

I bought a copy of Matt's book, so hopefully I will have a better understanding of the ins and outs of it all soon. Its a lot to take in.

I've never used anything but 1 as a step size, otherwise it never hits targets correctly.

I tried running a tune with EGO turned off as well as accel enrichment. Much better now, but still needs work. Still trying to learn about decel and PID settings, but she does run pretty well.

Separate question, I'm still not 100% on my matching my MTX-L to Tunerstudio. I have the setpoints at 1.0VDC=9.7AFR and 3.68VDC=18.2AFR. Finding the high point was easy, stuck my DMM to the input of the PNP and read the gauge with the engine off to simulate a lean condition. Slow, steady readings. Problem is, I can't simulate a rich condition. With the engine running, the voltage jumps around like a bat out of hell. Any ideas?

Mtx is 0 to 5v. That's not even close.

True, but if set at LC1 default, TS is about .6-.7 off from the MTX-L. At the ECU, with the MTX sensor dangling in fresh air I get 5.10V with the gauge reading 22.3.

The gauge outputs 5.0v as it should, but the reading where it meets the ECU is 5.10v.

that's fine, try to match what you're acutally reading in your calibration.
