VERY FRUSTRATED!

The forums call this thermiswitch. It's actually the switch to turn on your fans to your radiator. I have alot of questions.

1. I replaced the thermostat with the stock 195 degree one. I replaced the thermostat housing cuz mine broke off...cast aluminum I then bought a new thermostat gasket....all this stuff is new my friends. No matter how many gaskets I buy it leaks where the thermostat is. It just does. O reilly sold me a paper gasket with the peel and stick on the back. Cranked up the Miata let it get to 11:30 on the temp gauge as normal ...damn gasket starts to melt. Jeez. The original rubber one autozone sold me was a rubber like material and had the red ring around it. It leaked like a son of a gun as well. I even got a new thermostat cover (cast aluminum) from Rosenthal as well!!!!! Now the background...

2. The thermiswitch crumbled from age. So I bought a new one. The gray electrical connector crumbled from age as well..so I had to do some soldering. My question is ....if the thermiswitch is not working properly would that cause my water to get to hot and melt the gasket???

3. The fans on the cars are not kicking on. Except when the ac button is pushed. Related to a faulty new thermiswitch as well???

4. The fans have always kicked on together. I have never seen one fan spin while the other is still. It's a 92'...I bought it in 2002. Haven't seen that since.

So...permatex sealant, both gaskets installed together...how the hell can it leak then right? The upper radiator hose has a bubbling swiching sound when I squeeze it.

Oh and those darn radiator drain ***** that they sell over in the plastic bin are all crap.

I have never seen a thermostat and cooling situation beat me. Surely someone knows how to put me out of my misery.

Only one fan is thermostat switched(driverside), both turn on with the AC. unless you wire them in parallel.
using the KISS method (keep It Simple Stupid)
ok start by making sure your thermostat is installed correctly (sounds dumb but covering all the basses)
try another gasket from a different parts store, i use advance auto and their gasket worked no problem.
most parts are interchangeable on 1.6's so you can get parts from a junkyard for 1.6 mazda 1985-1989 Mazda Familia BFMR/BFMP (turbo), 1985-1989 Ford Laser TX3 turbo, and 1991-1994 Mercury Capri XR2,1991-1994 Mercury Capri and 1994 to 1996, second Generation Mazda MX-3 RS, and Miata.
