Default Radiator question

I have still have the same stock radiator that came on the 1992. Question: when I pop the radiator cap off...I never see water moving in my radiator. The upper hose gets hot, the bottom hose is less hot, but warm. Upon changing the thermostat there is coolant in the thermo housing. The water pump has been replaced on this car.

Am I not supposed to see it swirling on the Miata?

Just making sure.
Still fighting the fan thing. Hoping its a blown fuse.

thanks

it definitely moves on mine when the T-Stat opens. Just gotta let it get hot enough.

I don't think I need to warn you about the dangers of popping the rad. cap off....
best to take it off before things start to heat up...

I let the car warm up - thermostat gets to 11:30 o clockish.... water never swirls. Funny thing though...car never runs hot on the thermostat gauge.
I know the fans are supposed to kick on after a certain temp. degree....but right now they don't and that has me worried.

would over filling the radiator reservoir cause either of these problems? It doesn't sound like it to me.

I just replaced the thermoswitch. Crazy stuff happening on my car. LOL

dude, you are not waiting long enough. I have a 180* t-stat and mine doesn't open till 11:55* on the temperature gauge

You can rev the throttle body some to get it to heat up quicker, but once it opens, you want to keep that to a low amount.

Basically what your saying is...that if the water pump wasn't working I would for sure know it because it would be overheating like a ***** brutha? hahaha

yes, You would pretty much drive 5 miles down the road and your head gasket would blow and the car would smoke and you would be fuxed.

Shultzee13
You say you are fighting a fan problem ,what sort of problem are you having.
Just because you do not see them on does not mean anything is wrong with them.
Do you have A/C in your miata or did it have it and was removed.
Have you tried testing both fans and making sure they do work
If the car is not getting hot they will not come on unless you turn on the A/C if it has it
You may have another post That I don't know about just saw this one .
