I don't 100% think that is possible, but it certainly wouldn't hurt to try. It isn't one of the more difficult things to try.

I guess the real question here is, what else did you do when you checked the timing marks? If the car ran (good or bad) before you pulled the cover off then that should not have changed. PITA but go back and check your work again. Crank at TDC, cam marks up, 19 teeth between the cams. Don't forget about the tension mark. There is a place to turn the crank to when you set tension on the t-belt, then you rotate two full turns and check marks again. Get/read Haynes manual for details.

If you need the fuel pump wires I have a couple of them here. PM me an address and I will drop a pigtail in the mail to help you out (the joys of parting out wrecked cars). As for the CAS, are you using the 90 or the 95 CAS? I am told that the 1.6 and 1.8 have the same plug on them. Try swapping and see what happens. If you still have the old one it is a free fix.
