Turotufas, with the raised steering wheel mod can you still use the covers that cover the control column? Does it mean the column cover raises 1.5" up in front of the gauge cluster?

Well I got a door from sixshooter, and I began experimenting with reducing its weight. I ended up doing a full race gut job, and plan to put lexan windows in it.

My plan is to have a set of gutted race doors, and keep my stock doors intact.

Haha! Best of both worlds, huh?

How much weight came out?

Jury is still out. I won't really know until I put the necessary hardware back in. I started a thread on Miataturbo to see how others have gutted their doors. I am hoping to get ideas, particularly when it comes to mounting the windows.

I am shocked at how light the triangular window is. I am not sure it is worth making a lexan replacement for it. There will be some gains in the main window for sure.

This whole excercise will probably net me 25 lbs at the most after doing both doors.

There is this: http://www.advanced-autosports.com/i...4ff32cde43d4b4

And this:http://www.saferacer.com/miata-cage-...productid=2014

These will only hold the window well with the top up, though, because it uses the top window rubber to hold the window down.

Washed, claybarred and polished the car today. It seemed hardly worth it as the paint is pretty bad on this car... curses to the previous owner who had it parked outside forever!
All the plastic parts have paint that will never again be shiny, but the paint on the metal actually came up pretty decent. Would love a new paint job but it'll be a big expense as I want it to be a really good one hehe. Meaning back to metal prep.

I think I have a clever way of making either the factory glass or lexan mount in the hole semi permenantly, and still be lightweight. I will keep you posted as how I do it.

Might do a bit of work today if I can get the damn power steering pump back on the S10. Fucked with it for over an hour yesterday. PITA.

PS pump installed. Actually finished up everything.

NOW I CAN FINALLY FOCUS ON THE MIATA!
