No sexy photos or fab skills to show off like Dem. I dropped my old 4.3 Open Diff out and began my 4.3 LSD swap. The PPF Sleeve on the front bolt was fused to the PPF and I had to hit it with heat, a chisel, and finally a pipe wrench to break it free (DAMN SALT). I have a new one on order.
I ended up making a big mess. The trans fluid started to run out with the ppf sagging as I was so focused on that bolt I wasn't paying attention. Then I decided to burn out the diff bushings and made an even bigger molten rubber mess that I ended up getting on the bottom of my shoes and consequently all over the garage. As soon as the PPF sleeve arrives, I'll slap the Torsen back in with the new ES Bushings. I think while it's up, I'll tackle the Mazda Speed Motor mounts that I have had for 2 years as well. |
Diff in and car together. Going to drop her off the stands soon and take her for a quick ride at lunch. I have a high speed autox tomorrow to make sure she is ready for.

Replaced the thermostat (was yesterday, not today) and managed to not break anything. Today, took adavantage of a beautiful sunny day, put her top down and stretched her legs for a bit.

put air in the rear passenger tire, need to get the leak fixed one day

Drove her to work, top down despite the light misty fog. Bought Mitsuibishi Eclipse dash vents on ebay to replace the eyeballs on the Miata. Idea I saw on this site.

Changed out the radiator on my 2001 LS which had started turning brown. No leaks yet but the color change was a bad sign. I got the KOYO from Amazon and an OEM cap from Rosenthal since I understand the Stant caps don't do well in Miata's for some reason. The hardest part was removing the underbody plastic. The rest was easy: pull out the radiator with fans attached, move fans to new one, install.

I went with the 55mm Mishimoto in mine.
Be sure to put the undertray back or the car will overheat sometimes. |
