Trunk release button stopped working
My button under the dash stopped working to open my trunk. I can still open it using the button on the trunk lid, but I need to get this fixed. Is this a very common problem? Not sure where to look first and how hard it is to remove the trunk button switch from the dash.

Found it on another forum that there is a valet button in the trunk that may have accidentally gotten pushed. I'll have to see if that's the case. I was wondering if there was a good way to bypass that switch when parking with the top dow. Now I know. Just have to find it later when I go out after work.

Yeah, that button is in a good spot to have something fall against it and the next thing you know the button in the dash is disabled. I know of at least one guy that has taped a water bottle cap over that button with duct tape to avoid any accidental activations. He has a permanently mounted hard top so for him, disabling the trunk opener wasn't an issue.
Man, I couldn't imagine driving a Miata all the time with a permanently mounted hardtop. If it's above 50 degrees and not raining (too hard) I have the top down. Get claustrophobic with it up. I used to have a '93 LE with a removable hardtop and it was such a pain to take on and off that I usually left it on till spring. Now I have a 2008 PRHT and it's da bomb! Best of both worlds.
