1ST GEN. I bought it for the wife years ago. It had NO problems until I loaned it to our son a couple years ago. One of his idiot friends (or him), apparently tried to pull the connector off the AFS from the body and pulled all the connectors loose. He told me it wouldn't run past idle, he was right so I trailered it from TN to CO. I discovered the AFS and damage through the code and ordered a new one. Installed and now won't crank at all. ???

Can't hear the fuel pump unless I jump F/P and GND. Fuel pump comes on but still won't start.

AFS is air flow sensor? What year car?

He probably broke a wire inside the insulation by pulling on it. It won't be too hard to fix once you find the break. Just figure out which wire it is and solder a new jumper piece in or shorten it up.

Turned out to be a bad reconditioned AFS. The 90-93's call them Air Flow Sensors, I think to differentiate between vane and tubular styles???. After those years, I believe they call them MAF's. It's a 92. Will try to send pics of what I'm dealing with. The driver's rear is completely crushed to the point that I cannot retrieve the jack or tools kit. I don't want to spend $$ until I get it running right.
Is it illegal to strangle your own kids?
