After reading just a bit about the stock 1.8l's i have to say, they sound almost identical to the escort gt 1.8s. are they as well have factory forged internals?

The Miata BP has a forged crankshaft but the rods are weak above 220-250whp. The escort BP has almost complete interchangeability. With cheap chinese forged rods, forged pistons, a Boundary Engineering oil pump, and possibly a better harmonic balancer, the engines can handle quite a bit more than 350whp. The six speed trannies will hold that if mechanical empathy and a sprung clutch are employed. If you beat on it, you might break it, though.

Don't forget that new adapter for the rx7 turbo II trans. Going to be interesting to see how that changes the game for many.

It's funny how cheap you can pickup an FD 5-Speed as well. I've seen then for $200 - $300 several times on rx7club.com. I haven't watched Turbo-II trannies for price.
