HOOO BLOODY RAY

today I finally got round to checking the base timing... a previous owner claimed it had the 14deg mod on it, when checked it was actually set at 22deg!! Ive put it back down to 14 now the idle dropped down immediately and I was able to adjust the base idle down too, Ive taken it for a good thrash and happy to report its now sitting below 1000

Now I just have to sort out the slight bouncing, Im guessing its a vacuum leak somewhere, so I will set about checking all the vac hoses for any leaks.

1 victory anyway

That's good news. The high idle was just the engine trying to keep up with the bad timing, huh? Interesting.
