Jumping ship...

Sups all. I guess I'm the newest addition to this place, so I thought I'd introduce myself before bugging everyone with noob questions.

I'm James, I'm 31, and I'm a Nissan head. Well, a Nissan head that's always had a soft spot for Miatas. Having sold my 3rd (last?) s13 right before losing a p11 G20, I'm looking for a new (to me) whip to beat on, and I figured what the hell, why not finally get an NA?

It'll be a while until I finally get one, as funds are a bit tight at the moment and I never rush into things like this, but I'll be around, trolling and such ;p

RedTurboMiata 02-05-2012 10:27 PM

welcome, im going to move this to the meet and greet.

MF-Brain 02-05-2012 10:29 PM

Thanks for joining, jaii!

jaii 02-06-2012 12:20 AM

Thanks to you both :D

Quick question: I know the differences between your M and R deviants, but is there a specific year I should aim for as far as "normal" NA's go?

dieselmiata 02-06-2012 12:31 AM

Welcome aboard!

Lots will say that the 94-95 are the "best". OBD1 and the 1.8L engine are a great combination.

Schadenfreude 02-06-2012 01:14 AM

welcome to the forumz :)

I used to have a sohc ka s13 with a short ram, pacesetter header and exhaust.. I liked it a lot but the NA's a totally different beast.. I hope you get one and enjoy it as much as I do mine !!!

jaii 02-06-2012 03:02 AM

Thanks fellas :D

Schadenfreude: I can imagine. I've driven a few modified Miatas, and they've ranged from mild to scaryasshit. I do love their natural neutral balance though.
I just wish that instead of s13 parts, I had boxes filled with NA parts in my garage ><

What I love about the s-chassis is the community will always want those parts. Point being, you'll have no problem getting that stuff out of your garage if you ever decide to put them up on craigslist or your local area 240sx classifieds (forums).

Welcome to the forums! The best NA to get is an NB! :P

dieselmiata 02-06-2012 08:01 PM

The NB is a better car.

...But the NA is a better Miata. :p

You're in Victorville. Make sure to check out KINOD sometime. Im from Fontana, and the meet is in the City of Industry. It is a bit of a drive but well worth it. even if you don't currently own a miata, come meet us, and we will be glad to fill you in.

We meet every Friday BTW, Look out for the new thread every week. It IS the SoCal Miata meet. :p

Schadenfreude 02-06-2012 08:44 PM

I've heard a lot of good things about KINOD. Hopefully we'll have something like that going around here in Chicago.. a more performance oriented one at least.

Speedhunters has an article on them. My gut tells me I'm about to get flamed for mentioning KINOD and Speedhunters.

lolz ^
i think i drove past that when i was in CA

jaii 02-07-2012 03:34 AM

@Neo: Funny you should mention that. Work used to have me all over the place, and I've passed that KK a few times wondering which local crew kept taking their parking lot over. I'll have to check it out sometime.
@diesel: But, I've always loved the lines of the NAs =oP Well, except for those floodlamp headlights. If/When I finally pick one up, I'll probably end up going with a low-profile headlight+fogs combo....after the prerequisite suspension/brake/wheel mods.
@schadenfreude: I've considered selling them off, but I'll more than likely end up with another at some point. I've had 3 so far (KA26-T, SR22-T, n/a VQ35), and the only car I've truly loved as much as them was my G20.

dieselmiata 02-07-2012 10:07 AM

Lol, I used to hate the barndoors, so I did the lo-pro mod on my 95. The longer I had them, the more I missed the look of the barndoors so I'm leaving my 92 stock.

But then I went to Flying_Solo's place the other day and now I really want to add an NB to my collection.

flying_solo 02-07-2012 10:34 AM

;) and you haven't even driven it yet.
