Just picked up my new miata in New Hampshire

Hey guys, long story short i had an 08 nissan 350z that was recently stolen from my driveway and totaled. The insurance payed the loan off on the car and i took the opportunity to get a car i have always had a deep interest in and picked up my 92 miata. I live in New hampshire and i think the car is pretty well known in the area. This is the most fun car i have ever driven and it amazes me more and more everyday and gets attention everywhere it goes. Looking to get into the miata bizz, the plan is to go turbo asap since im working with a super clean motor.

this is the Z that was stolen from me

Welcome to mfz, as said before if planing to turbo you might as well find a 94-04 1.8. They are a better platform to begin with.

Suntzuprodigy 07-22-2012 12:36 PM

i want to build the 1.6. i got a super clean one and kinda want to just keep it, i wanna be THAT guy

dieselmiata 07-22-2012 04:08 PM

Looks nice! Sorry to hear about your Z. Did they ever catch the guys? There's a whole circle of hell dedicated to thieves.

I'm just saying, a turbo 1.6 is fun as well. I'm making 200hp with a greddy kit, td-04h making 12psi. It's fun to drive, but I'm going to build a 1.8 for 350hp soon.

dieselmiata 07-22-2012 04:30 PM

Why not have both? Miata's are cheap! :p

Suntzuprodigy 07-23-2012 12:21 AM

wow im already loving how supportive you guys are, the Z forums are FULL of sarcasm and comments that are just immature, well right now this one is a hand full, it needs a couple wheel bearings, a master cyl, and the dash was swapped from an nb and i hate it, dumbest thing ever so im swapping it back, at the same time something is telling me to just do the required maint. and say screw cosmetics and just build a nasty motor, i should probably try to pick up a cheap 1.8 eh?

Suntzuprodigy 07-23-2012 12:24 AM

Also could you guys maybe link me to some vendor sites? the z forum had a vendor section but im having trouble finding it on this forum. i basically am not sure where to look for anything yet lol

thx dude, na nobody knows. there were really no leads to go on, but glad you like the miata. :) always looking for suggestions or help finding parts, i specifically want a front lip on it and a hardtop. Also those SSR's on the car right now are for sale, i cant stand them

dieselmiata 07-23-2012 11:59 AM

Not necessarily sponsors on this particular forum, but it's a pretty comprehensive list of Miata based vendors.

http://www.miata.net/marketplace.html

For factory parts, I recommend Rosenthal Mazda. They have pretty much everything you will need as far as stock stuff. Choose their cheapest shipping rate if you do buy stuff from them, it will get to your house in the same amount of time. Onlinemazdaparts.com is pretty awesome too.

I wanted to do the NB dash conversion for a while, but the more I looked at it the more I like the 94-97 dash. I'm waiting to find one in good shape to swap into my 92.

For the hardtop, just keep your eyes peeled on craigslist. Plan on about a 800 to a grand for one, but if you're diligent you may be able to find one for cheap. About once a year I hear a story about someone who picked up a hardtop for >$500.

For the front lip, check ebay. There is a replica of the factory R lip and the Garage Vary lip that can be had for about 80 shipped, and fitment is pretty good.

Vendors that can make you quick:
949 Racing
Trackspeed Engineering
Good-Win Racing

For the lip, I would look on ebay for the GV urethane lip. It is flexible and won't shatter like some others and might have the look you want.

For the engine, there is plenty of room in the 1.6 for two and a half times the stock power without having to open it up and add forged rods and pistons. The 1.6 and 1.8 have forged crankshafts and are quite durable.

The best way to go turbo is to add a stronger clutch, MegaSquirt computer, larger injectors, then add the turbo bits. For manifolds and downpipes, ABSURDflow and Artech are two fantastic options for beautiful pieces that will fit well and last forever. There are other options if you choose to go cast iron.

You may need to replace the weak stock 1.6 rear diff and axles at some point with the beefier ones out of a 1.8 if, no, when you blow it up.

That's not limited to the Z forums, that's Nissan in general, haha. I know coming from the 240 forums. No help anywhere once so ever. The Miata forums are completely different. Your car looks great, hope to see some updates with the project going forward.

sixshooter 08-25-2012 08:27 PM

I have a buddy with an r32 GT-R who absolutely hates GT-R forums because of how douchey the loser fanboys are on them. He says most of them don't have a GT-R and have never done anything themselves but want to criticize everything anyone does. They are all loser keyboard warriors according to him so he never posts anything about his car.

Suntzuprodigy 09-09-2012 01:33 AM

This miata is now for sale, i want to get back into a newer car perhaps a newer mx-5 get at me roguenissan@hotmail.com
