I was interested in SCCA back with my FC, but never got too into it, honestly, i find most pleasure on back mountain highways, the outdoors and the openness is the best part about it. I think the ECU mess would be easier if already running MSPNP as far as the 1.8 swap. Also looking into the NB dash swap, heard its super easy with just a small bit of wiring up the HVAC, no biggie. The NB dash is MUCH sexier

I actually thought between a NA and NB for quite some time… but honestly, I think the NA is a better platform, more availability of parts, and a more simplified application. Oh, and I can spend ($1300) on a NA and have all those monies left over for parts :-)

The only advantage of NA I see are weight related. I actually feel the 1.8 has more aftermarket support nowadays, and the 1.6 is being phased out. Also more parts can be adapted to either platform, like anything to do with suspension and braking. I also find the NB just as easy to work on as NA.

^^^ I do agree with you. The 1.8 has a higher aftermarket demand, the 1.6 is smaller and makes less power, obviously not the best choice. NB is also sexier (except the headlights, i hate them). The difference is, i couldn't find a 99+ for $1300 like I did my 92, haha. And luckily I'm really not going for too much power/speed. I would love to get a fair amount (which is still possible with the 1.6) and mostly just the ability to build a clean looking car that makes me want to spend every single day driving it. In time i will likely upgrade, to the 1.8, but for now, not too stressed.

I build up cars because its fun to drive them, fun to test things, and fun to work on, and fun to drive. I am by no means a good enough driver to get far in any form of racing, nor do I have a high budget, I'm a middle-class american in a 20 year old car, doing it because I love it :-)
