Howdy!

So I bought a '92 "Ruby Red" Miata on my 21st birthday, it was and still is, my first car! As my friends laughed away at me for purchasing a "girl's car", I couldn't help but to grin every time I hit the road, top down, music blasting and not a single care in the world (I miss the warm weather...)

This is how she looked when I first got her;

Yeah, I know - she didn't even come with oem wheels, but instead... friggin steelies and hubcaps!

So as the summer months went on, I started to slowly getting into "modifying" her.

First I got a HID Conversion kit from Fleabay, a K&N cone filter, and rota gt3 15x7's.

Okay at this point, I was pretty happy about my ride - but my suspension was shot. Even though it was my first car, I could feel every bump just crush my soul as the wheels would fly into the air, and come back down crashing on the bumpstops.

So I decided to be cheap and.. got rokkor's, haa!

But as I got a friend to install the coilovers, he noticed that one of my control arms were seized. And he couldn't get the rear shocks off without breaking the bolt or sawing it off. That day, we only installed the front coil overs. I was riding with a rake for almost 2 weeks, until..

I finally found someone (local shop that collects miatas and chops them) and purchased new (used) set of control arms...

We installed them the very next day and since they were out, and new. I decided to sand them down, prime it.. and paint it. Fluorescent orange!

I had some reverse rake going on because the rear was maxed out but the fronts still had a few more threads left to go moar low. Natural camber came into play

So moar low I went, maxed out the fronts, added a "DIY lip" and now I'm left with this.

As of right now, the car's ride quality is pretty (Toronto has some pretty bad streets in certain parts, it makes my teeth grind).. I regret maxing out the coil overs, go figure.

This week I decided that function>form, especially with a car like this. I'm raising both the rear and fronts and fixing that camber this weekend.

But anyway, tl;dr - I have a Miata and I like forums.

Welcome, tootrue23!

Glad you're going for function too, Joey. We're dumb bandwagon-hoppers for getting these Rokkors though. Ah well least we're learning lol.

Hi tootrue23, enjoy your stay :)

lol at you two. Welcome to the forum Joey. Hope you enjoy your stay and gain some knowledge on this "function" thing you speak of.

Doing an autocross will certainly help convince you, functional is much more fun!

welcome to the club, nice ride.

Welcome! I think it's an age thing that most of us go through. We hear all the reasons not to do something, but do it anyway just to see what it's like. You just have to experience it for yourself. When I got my first Miata I was told by a million people to not put Tein s-tech springs on KYB GR2's. Guess what I did? Put Tein springs on GR2's. It rode great for a few weeks until all the shocks blew out.

Anyway, not trying to hijack your thread. Welcome to the forum, glad to have you!

Thanks for the warm replies guys! I didn't get any email notifications for this so I haven't checked it in a while. I work a loot and hardly get time to just sit at home and surf (a 6 day response in a thread that I created kind of proves that).

I'll start using this forum more actively, or try to!
