Default Newbie Checking In

Hello,
I'm new to posting on forums so I'm just learning how to get started. I purchased my first miata about a week ago. It is a 2000 Special Edition. So far I am enjoying the car and beginning to work on some maintenance issues that need to be addressed. I plan to replace the timing belt next week. I am fairly handy with a wrench, but this will be my first time working on the Miata. Is there anything special I need to be aware of before tackling this project?

The timing marks are a little tough to get right the first time and the cam gears are strangely marked in my opinion. Get a book or find some pictures online for best results.

Thanks for the input. I have watched a couple videos on YouTube and read the procedure in the factory service manual (downloaded online). It all seems straight forward, but I'm always interested in tips from those with more experience.
