Hi,
New to the site & Miatas. Just purchased a 92 with an automatic and thought the first upgrade I'd make would be some tires. Need advice as to best tire for everyday & good handling. With the automatic I'm not going auto crossing, just doing some rallies.
What's the consensus?

I think no one has answered because you didn't provide some of the needed information. Do you still have the 14 inch factory wheels or have they been changed to 15's or other width 14's?

If 15's in a 6.5 to 8 inch wide wheel I would recommend the 205/50/15 sizing with a Kumho Ecsta XS or Hankook RS3 for Florida tires. The Federal 595 has a good reputation as well but is a little less sticky.

Sorry about the lack of info: but here goes. I have Konig 15 x 7 wheels, standard , totally stock suspension. Will upgrade to Konis when budget allows.

The Konis aren't really good in their Miata valving configuration. They end up being very jittery and losing a great deal of traction due to too much high speed damping. They also have too little low speed damping, which is a strange combination.

There are some threads here that talk about using the Mazdaspeed Bilsteins or "Hard S" valved Bilsteins and making adjustable coil-overs with any spring rate you wish for very little money.

I still say the 205/50/15 size is best for the 15x7 wheel. Consult the "surveys" at tirerack.com for actual testing on the various options. The tire options I listed above are a good place to start, in my opinion.
