Mitsubishi Eclipse Hate

So my sister has a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse GTS. The car has caused us nothing but problems for the last year. The newest problem is the hood latch cable broke inside the latch mechanism. after 3 weeks of playing around with it, i have got no where with it. :bang:i have the extreme desire to light that bitch on fire ( the car not my sister). :firedevil: called the mitsubishi stealership, and all they would say is bring it in we can fix it. :bang:

So i got to here "So my sister" and the first thing that crossed my mind was pictures??? This is why I always refer to the females in my family online as family members as to avoid guys like myself. lol

Its a 9 year old car. ---- isnt made like the old Delta 88s of way back when.

How much is the dealership charging?

All the dealers are the same around here too. What seems like a simple fail turns out to be multiple parts being replaced with the bonus of the "oh by the way the next time you are in you may want to look at"....

I always giggle about the $2200 brake job for my SRT8.

Anyhow, since you arent winning torch the bitch, post pictures of your sister :)

Are you able to pop the hood from underneath the car with a long flat head?

Googles said this to me:

If you peek between the hood and front fascia (bumper) with the flashlight you'll be able to see the latch mechanism. Looking at the front of the mechanism you can see the U shaped bottom part of the latch. Near the bottom right side of the U there is a small vertical hole, just about the right size for the tip of that screwdriver I mentioned.

Stick the screwdriver in the hole at an angle (as if you were pointing the screwdriver at the passenger door). Then lever the screwdriver to the left, like you're flicking a big switch, and you'll catch the release mechanism, and the hood will pop up just as if you had pulled the release.
