Default New job?

I'm debating whether or not to take a new job.

To put it really simple:

1. Stay with current job, end up with lots of freedom, possibly make no money, be poor for a while. Possibility of eventually making lots of money when I'm like 40. Very relaxed life style.

2. Get new job. Less freedom. Guarenteed pay, lots of bonuses, hard but satisfying work. Move around a lot. Travel for 6 months at a time. Dangerous.
Stressful. Rewarding.

I'm leaning towards #2.

Alex. Freedom is worth something. Perhaps more than what #2 will bring you in monetary return. Relax life style is great too. Who needs to be rich?
Getting by is good, perhaps even consider above average to some people. Enjoy life...

or

Get paid. Be a slave to the dollar. More you make, more you spend. More you spend more you need. No freedom. Your visa and debt will chain you to a job you may not like or may grow to dislike. Money is good. You can buy a ---- ton of things, but I dont believe if you are earning your riches that you can buy freedom (atleast in the not super rich world). Sure, after you roll your first million in cash then you can relax a bit, but how long will it take to get there? And when you get there will you be able to slow down to appreciate what you got?

I prefer #1 myself. I spend a ton of time with my wife, my kid, do what i want when i want and thats that.

Why is it so hard to find a job?

I assume you are wanting to leave the military and work for a contractor. How far in are you? I mean one tour with a contractor you can straight up buy a house. (My brother did 2 tours with blackwater and now he really just works to pay property taxes and for a kid).

How old are you? With option 1, you said you can make $$ when you are 40. If you are young enough now, take option #2, make cash, then get out of it in a couple years.

I don't agree, Russ. You can always earn more money. You can't earn more youth. So enjoy life while you are young. Go do stupid things that leaves cool scars and better stories. You can spend the rest of your life working to death. While you are young, go have fun.

Decision 1 = finish out contract, leave military go to school, then get some intel job with gov.

Decison 2 = Stay in military but do something more than just big army.

Honestly leaning toward 2.

I'm in #2 and leaning towards #1 actually. Moving to where the COL is less than half helps too.
