I do agree with you ,I think it is paranoia that does it . Let me ask this why a get together in the middle of the day on a Sunday ? It probably did not help your turn out a lot. This sure did not help calm any fears of something bad happening and in fact probably instilled more thought and fear in your own neighbor hood.
Don't get me wrong you are probably one vote in the area and could very well be overridden but at that point I would have to say count me out I will do it Monday evening as it should be
I would question why you would do it on a sunday and not at least late on Monday say from 1700-1900 . I would most likely not taken mine in the middle of the day but would be more inclined if done on Sunday night.I know a lot of people think of church but I really think the good Lord will overlook the time in place of the intent and that is doing something good
We always did it on the 31 no matter the day and at night

Not my idea. That's just how they do it in Chicago. I'm not sure if it's the local governments or the HOAs, but a schedule comes out on the park district's website as a list of neighborhoods and their set times. Some neighborhoods are set for the 31st, but some are set for the 29th and 30th as well. Mine just happened to be on the 30th. I hate the idea. Next they'll be telling us that our kids can't open presents on Christmas until their scheduled time or that Easter egg hunts must be set as well. Unfortunately most of the sheeple will take their kids on their allotted time rather than go on the ACTUAL holiday not wanting to be the odd man out. I took my kids to the Navy base to go trick or treating on the 31st and there was a much larger turnout. Maybe due to the large amount of people from all over the country who actually know how to celebrate a holiday.

BTW, I f***ing hate Chicago.

Then I stand corrected, and appluad you for taking yours to the base and doing ity the old fashioned way. If it is an HOA then I would sure see how many folks are not in favor of it and at the annual meeting call for a vote remove the rule or by law
I know in Texas you get one meeting a year to call things to a vot ethatthe membership votes on ,the board has no vote on it other than their one vote as a member
Do some reading on the bylaws and rules
I have done this several times with boards and Hoa "s

Not a single one at my house... I guess it could be something to do with the 1/8mile gravel driveway with no lights that leads up to 6 broken down cars and a garage straight out of wrong turn...

But with the advent of information technology, all one has to do is enter their address, and see a google map overlay of registered sex offenders in their vicinity. The way things were before, ignorance was bliss.

20 years ago in the neighbourhood I grew up in there was hundreds of kids out.

My sister reported 3 showed up at the same house Monday night. I actually did see quite a few in the small towns I drove through on my way home from cottage.

Legend I think the kids have just moved to the newer neighborhoods .They seem to think the neighborhoods with the new fancy housses have better candy or goodies than the older neighborhoods
I know the area I live in 20 years ago you may see 15 cars a day come down the highway now you see that many an hour . So the danger of being hit is up

I actually saw the most trick or treaters around my work place, a busy commercial strip. Many businesses weren't expecting it, and just started giving away their merchandise. The local pizza place was giving away everything from garlic knots, to beef patties, and knishes.

bixx5 You know something I noticed in our town this year was a sign saying downtown business trick or treat from 4-6 pm. I was glad to see the twon doing that .I remember the stores staying open late back as a kid so you could get treats . It did not take very long for a new business to find out it needed to be open late that night or they would find a trick.
Nothing mean or bad maybe writting on the windows or grease on the door **** or something
