You just won a million cash...build your dream miata.
Let's just pretend right now that you won $1,000,000 cash.
If this happened to me, obviously I'd pay off all my debt first, most likely sell my house, buy or build a bigger one (which would be paid for in cash), and I'd still have easily over $600,000 left over. I'm pretty sure I'd keep my miata and make all my miata dreams come true with it, but what would you guys do to a or "your" miata if you have all the money it would take? My first answer: "I'd buy a MSM Miata and bolt on the FM package that gets it up to 200whp, and I'd use that as my daily. I'd keep my '99, but I'd remove my roll bar, and weld in a full cage. I'd sell my trans, rear, and engine; cause I'd go the LS V8 route. It would probably have about 550whp NA." Then I thought...forget that MSM. Second answer: "I would definately keep my '99, but I would do an LS swap for sure. Possibly more tame though, like a LS6 with about 450whp? Full cage for sure, camshaft that sounds like it's all business, no A/C...pretty much the same way my car is now, but on start up, your hair stands up on the back of your neck. It would cart me to and from work the way it does now, and I'd get in the mid to upper 20 mpg's on 93 octane; but it would run 11's anytime I mash the throttle." What would you guys build?? |
I would buy an RX-8, throw out the renesis and do a 20b with a pheripheral port. Strip the car down to nothing, and cage it, full suspension, a BBK for 17" wheels.
At the same time, I would finish the miata and continue driving it as is for the next year or so, at which point I would sell the track miata to someone. buy another miata for my daily and track the RX-8. |
I'd get an ap2 with I/H/E, ecu & tune, suspension mods & wheels to replace my miata as a daily for 6 months out of a year & once a year track days.
|
i would sell my current, get a 2 low mile nb's same color ones.
turbo one and v8 the other. shoot for the 350hp out of the turbo car. and go big or go home on the v8, with 500-600hp. and save the rest in a few high interest savings accounts. |
I would keep my '91 turbo to play with and get a 2010 to go on wine and cheese runs. Oh, wait, already did that. Guess I'll just spend the rest of it on hookers and blow!
|
I would buy a kickass garage and 8-9 spec miatas. Then probably buy a membership at the local private track and just loan out cars to my friends on track days.
The MSM would also get bored over to a 2.0ltr, gt30ish turbo with custom mani. Forged internals the whole chibang. Once I was right around 400 hp, I would buy the fastback conversion. as well as rollcage, frog arms, frame rails, bf brace, basically every bit of bracing ever. I'd get some custom tailored super duper comfy track grade seats and interior. Maybe a widebody kit or flares to fit my 9inch wide wheels in front and 10 inch wheels in the back. |

Large garage, with lots more Miata's. I'd like a couple of NBs to compliment my NA's, I'd like a Black and Tan and a Shinsen. A Red MSM and an NC2. I'd really like to take my 95, strap a FMII on it with a new paint job, and I like the Simpson design raised hoods. I'd also use some money to replicate my hard boot cover and share them with the rest of the Miata world. Of course, I'd have to buy a red FD RX7 for the wife. It's her dream car and she won't let me forget it. :bang:

I'm lazy. i would put my MSM in a box and ship it to FlyinMiata for one of their overpriced LS packages. However if I won in the +10's of millions, I would just keep the MSM as it is and be like every other schmuck who wins the lottery and buy a supercar.

Million dollars? I'd buy a ferrari, lambo, and lotus, and ariel atom.. stick MX5 badges on all of them, then buy a set of works and teins for the miata so I could be cool on CR.
Mission accomplished, real life badassery coupled with E-badassery. |

Mission accomplished, real life badassery coupled with E-badassery. I'd just buy an LS7 NB from FM and call it a day, then drop it off at 949 for ballet shoes. |
Was trying to keep it car related.. If I were to be buying stuff that mattered I'd invest in a new combine, a new head for the old one, a corn drying system, corn storage for 2,000 ton of corn, a newer dump truck, I'd pay off all debts in the business and then buy my mother's house and let her keep living in it until she wanted to retire to Florida.
That's right around a million depending on the combine. |
wide body hemi turbo Miata.
Auto Paddle Shifted w. traction control / abs SQ Stereo Limo Tint |
LS swapped NB and all the brakes and suspension it can take from 949 and Trackspeed, respray it to showroom new, and house w/ baller kitchen with my garage for the toys. Probably throw in a few bikes, dedicated rock crawler, tow rig, new STI for the wife (after riding with my dad she's fallen in love with it) and a bike for her. Rest go towards savings for high interest and finish school without stress.
|
I'd keep my current car and finish my new turbo project. I'd need a MSM 6 speed, V8R 8.8 kit, MS3/x, line lock, Lenso 13" wheels, and probably a ton more other goodies. Tune for 500whp or whatever lets me trap mid 130's
Buy second miata, probably NB2, and install Mercedes OM606 turbo diesel engine w/ 5 speed. Keep motor bone stock w/ Borg Warner S300sx, 4" exhaust and tune for 40psi. Easy power, gobs of torque, million mile reliability and upwards of 50-55mpg. Go out on the highway and LOL as I pass all the LSX miatas. Invest the rest, still join military. |
LS7 for me as well. Then buy some property 20 - 40 acres would be great, build a nice shed that's heated with a lift and other goodies, good used diesel truck, some cows, 80s 911 Turbo, trailer, and finally bank the rest.

@TallGeese, how heavy is that BlueTec?

I'm a big Diesel fan myself, your idea sounds awesome.

One million isn't really enough, i'd honestly buy a house in cash and quit my job and live off my wife's salary so I can get a job making crap wage at some performance shop working on cars all day.
|
I could swing it with a million. I have a funny story from when I was 20 and "almost" won 1/2 million. It's a long story, short version is, coworker and I couldn't agree to buy this $20 scratch off that was for 1 million instant tax free. I wanted to buy it, he didn't. 2 hours later a lady came in, purchased it and won the million. That sucked a lot, I was a very broke SOB back then.

Me too, I call her the Race Wagon. 2010 JSW TDI. Retired to make room for the miata at the track:

^props. Driving for driving for fun.
|
And good mpg on the track! My favorite was the guy in the Cayman that said my TDI was fast and wanted to know what mods I had. LOL, I told him, brake pads, fluid, tires? He then asked what it's HP was and left feeling sad.
Sorry for the thread jack. To get us back on track, I think along with an LS7, I would also have to make a BMW Diesel powered NC2 with PRHT. |

sweet. |
I think I would open a dealership and build and sell cobra replicas there too, becuse it would pull traffic through the showroom.
|
I'd buy a large warehouse and ~20 gokarts and start a business. Alternatively, I'd make my dd miata a caged track ----- with the focus on cornering and not power, then buy a MKIV Supra and shtick a T88 on dat beotch for a point and shoot street car, and lastly I'd buy a Lamborghini Murcielago SV for my daily.
|
do you have a house paid off?
|
Going to pull a camper behind the Lambo.

Since we derailed and got off the "what would you do to your miata" train...I would build a pile of cars around an LSx twin turbo setup. They would include, 1993 RX-7, NB1 Miata, pre 1970 Volvo P1800, 67-69 Firebird, 1967 Nova. I would also buy a Toyota MR-S and do a Honda K series swap, most likely a K24 with a K20 head and a GT35r turbo.
I'd also put in a 4 cylinder cummins diesel in my 1950 Willys Jeep, maybe. |

It's already in the garage. Okay, I'd add an OSGiken, but that's about it. 1% lifestyle.
