Default DOHC in a Miata? No big deal? Unless there are two of 'em...

Not my car, but these vids did change my mind on this motor fitting in the MX... Before I just assumed 'no way in hell...'
As long as the framerails aren't chopped any more than a 5.0 swap.

The new owner!

Near the end is an engine bay shot. Looks like the motor is listing starboard. That'll never do. Doesn't look like an insurmountable problem.

Thirdgen,

Being all alloy, it's around the same as a garden variety 5.0.
Ford's rating of the Mark VIII was 280. 290 for the LSC. They haul a Mark with authority.

Point is, if they fit, the new Coyote 5.0 will fit. As well as Mach 1, Marauder and Aluminator motors.

I would assume the alloy LS's would be lighter. Still more $$. But the Ls looks at home in a MX. I like the LS series, just the cost is out of my league.

Several people have successfully run turbos and superchargers on these Mark motors despite non-forged internals. Apparently the trick is in fueling it and conservative timing. Not that I would. They really need real rods.

This just goes to show that you can fit anything in a miata. I'm seen a jaguar V12 swapped in a miata, LS GM engine, old school GM small block, rotary, 2jz, 5.0, and now this??
