if you use primer before the plastidip, it actually stays on pretty well. It will be resistant to nicking and if you nick plastidip, you don't actually have to heal it. Part of the chemicals break down the plastic, so its "self healing" in a weird kinda way.
If you spray some to cover a hole, the new plastidip breaks down the old stuff and molds to it. Maybe not be perfect, but its cleaner than trying to touch-up paint.

well i have a priming gun and a painting gun so i'd run it through my prime gun. i saw a guy do his audi on his driveway with some electric spray gun but i'm just not sure if it was a special gun for that specific purpose

my thought would be cheap harbor freight gun, if it breaks your out what 20$
