Default Aluminum lug nuts

Are 949 racing or similar lug nuts worth the money or are they hype?

I have the 949 on both miatas. They are esp. nice with extended lugs. Lots of tire changes scratch them up pretty good, but they seem extra secure and pretty light. Price seemed ok (have you seen prices of Rays or similar )

I don't buy into all of the 949 koolade, but if I needed lug nuts, I would buy them again. I also use/like thier valve stems.

"lightweight" lugs are always a hype. With that said, I think when I buy the 6ULs I will buy the lugs with them.

I run them (949Racing aluminum) and the finish on them has long worn off, they're quite marred up. I've had wheels on and off the car well over 100 times (autoX, track days and changing out wheels a ton of times) and they have been problem free the entire time. No problems with the nuts of the studs.

I know a couple of people on CR had the typical tuner/splinedrive lugs snap off on them. Not a fan of steel since they can rust.

I'm using the 949's, had the wheels off several times and lugs still look good. I bought them to mount not-so-light wheels. I needed tuner lugs and these looked good and were reasonably priced.

They are very light compared with stock nuts but I doubt any actual performance advantage exists
