Possibly getting a 1.8 head and short block.

Possible head refresh with a rebuild bottom end (oe pistons and rings with ebay forged rods) incoming!

would be sad to have the motor opened, and not see forged pistons go back in as well. I realize the rods are the weak link, but the pistons arent far behind and can't handle any detonation like the forged ones can.

This is true, but it adds a substantial cost to the whole build.

But all this might change. My step dad is finally going to let me pick up one of his 240s. I think I'll be picking up the '70 with no rust!

Also it may have no rust, but its also been sitting for 10+ years, so its going to need lots of mechanical work before its road legal.
