Then Saturday I hit the drag strip. I showed up and a friend of mine was going to let me borrow slicks.. The 14 inch steelies wouldn't clear my brakes though! I gave it a go on street tires. The first run was alright. Got to the line and rolled out a little slow for fear that I was going to blaze the tires. The thing actually hooked pretty well and I ended up bogging the start (didn't use anti-lag). Ended up with a 12.1 pass. Trap speed was 115 with a 2 second 60ft. Second run.. I broke an axle. The burnout box was about out of water and as soon as it snagged the axle snapped. - That's my second axle in two weeks.. Not great. But at least is was the opposite axle. I think the car has a mid to high 11 second pass in it. |
damn how do you go about fixing that.. I mean going through axles. a mid 11 miata though daym.

Didn't use a gasket, just Permatex Black RTV. http://www.miataturbo.net/attachment...ine=1344000866 The new intake piping is just a mock up at this point while BEGi is fabricating the manifold. It's some big stuff though. 4 inch directly from the turbo, to a 4 inch elbow and then it reduces down to 3 inch. I'm working on a way to run the filter through to the bumper. Now that I’ve got the pump mounted, which required the removal of everything; I could assess the source of my small leak, my oil pan. The two rubber gaskets on each end looked to be pretty beat up. It’s likely I over tightened the pan the first time around.

There are lines running all over the place that are poorly routed for a turbo being mounted in the engine bay. Specifically the one that runs within inches of the turbo hot side (Drivers side front). Well done with the brake lines. How hard do you think it would be todo with engine still in there? On a scale of 1 - 10 beers?
