After throwing the engine together: AC Compressor, Alternator, Injectors, Oil sandwich plate, Engine Mounts, Oil Pan and other items… I’ve decided I’ll be converting my Coolant feed lines to AN as well. I picked up a 1/8th NPT to -6AN and then ran the -6 line to the neck coming off the pump.



The next task was to route my new inlet pipe properly. No half assed stuff going on here. Coming off my turbo is a 4 inch inlet so I ran a couple of elbows and then a reducer to bring the setup down to 3 inch. Then I’m routing it through the opening in the front of the fender well.
This is the hole I’ll need to cut.



So I armed my girl with an air saw…. Secret is out of the bag guys, she does all my fabrication work!



So after I took the air saw back from her, I cut the hole, and then I lined it with RTV and rubber tubing.


The fitment came out quite nice. Perfect actually.



Next step was to continue modifying my Catch can. As stated before I’ll be running two -8 AN lines into my catch can and I’ll be mounting a traditional breather out the top of it.




I didn’t get very good pictures of the brake line re-route yesterday so here you are… I have the bias block thing mounted behind the cowl now, along with the clutch and brake lines. You can see in the pic above- it really cleans things up on the fire wall.

Oh yeah, I mocked up my vacuum distribution block too.. Pretty lil sum bish huh?



The engine is about ready to drop in - I'll likely have it put bolted in tonight.

Looks great man. Love how clean the car is. Definitely include girl friend in your photos.

I really like the idea of moving the clutch and brake lines to get them out of the heat. Thanks for the additional photos. Now a question about that inlet at 4". Are you worried about lag since you are going from 3" to 4". Seems the air would begin moving slower and drop in pressure when going to a larger diameter.

It's the intake side so being under slight vacuum most of the time, I'm not worried about it.

Before dropping in the engine, I wanted to tackle the subframe paint. Scuffed it up really well and hit it with black frame paint.


The next job was the tunnel heat shield. Hit up the firewall too.


Engine went in relatively easily. Looking really clean.

Oil cooler mounted and lines made/installed with sandwich plate.



I ended up bending a wheel before I brought the car in for "build round 2". Just dropped it off yesterday to my wheel peeps:

ReStock Wheels - Southfield Michigan. Very professional setup and great people.

It actually took a pretty hard hit to make this happen. Let's just say the Hankooks aren't sticky unless they are warm...

Saturday I spent some time working on some of the little details. I did some under body paint and took care of some of the small things like the Radiator/condenser brackets.



Welded my AN bung onto my valve cover and repainted it - Wrinkle black





Finished modifying my catch can - Breather mounted, AN fittings ready.



The manifold is about done - Stephanie sent me some update pictures with my turbo and WG mounted up.

So last night I picked up my new head gasket and got it installed with my new coolant reroute.



The newest coolant re-route parts below. The kit now includes a 45 degree adapter piece to leave the heater core lines in a more natural position.



I started by popping off the back sensor housing.



Cleaned up the mating surface.



Installed my thermostat, sensor and hose barb without the sensor just to take a photo to demonstrate why BEGi has included the 45 degree elbow adapter.



The KIA housing that's included in the kit is coupled with new hardware. The old stud must be removed from the head.



You can see that while it's mocked up without the 45 degree adapter the heater core hose is pointed in a slightly different direction than the factory setup.



With the adapter it's in the perfect position. It's close to the sensor but with a slight rotation of the hose barb assembly I was able to regain my clearance.



Mocked up the block off plate. The valve cover is just sitting on top to cover it from dust for now, but you get the idea. This bish is gonna look nice!





For my fuel system I've got something a bit special in store for you kids :giggle:
