Chicago Auto Show Feb 10 - 19 - Chicago Meet Up!

Ladies and Gentleman, the Chicago Auto Show starts Feb 10th - 19th. We should do a MiataForumz meet up and go. I still own a condo next to McCormick place, so if we car pool, I can use a couple guest permit passes to park one block North of the Convention Center. I won't even charge you for parking ;)

I recommend trying to go late afternoon during the week if you want to beat all the crowds. Furthermore, if we are able to chose a date soon, we can purchase online ahead of time and save some $$.

Jealous. Sounds fun!

Mazduh 02-01-2012 03:26 PM

I actually have a press pass for the autoshow. Some friends and I usually go super late like 9-10pm.

But I'm down to hang with the mfz members! We should get food then go or something.

Press pass eh? Do you need a crew to hold your camera and paper? Maybe, pose with the models?

I'm proposing a meetup February 13th in the evening. As for time, I propose we shoot for meeting up at 6 PM and then head to Chinatown for dinner. I can recommend many a Chinese restaurant over there.

What's the best way to coordinate this PM me or post here if you plan to go? Like I said, if we coordinate and car pool, I can use some of my Guest Permit parking to save folks on parking.

Mazduh 02-02-2012 02:25 PM

Does everyone have facebook? We could make a mfz fb group.

Schadenfreude 02-04-2012 12:45 AM

So according to Rick's post.. Mazda has this spot for roadsters in the auto show. WE NEED TO GO.

flying_solo 02-10-2012 11:24 AM

So, is it just Schade, Diesel and I going to the show Monday?

I'm going monday with my gf... I can meet up with you guy's ahead of time?

flying_solo 02-10-2012 02:54 PM

I can't make it down any sooner than about 5 - 5:30. I have to double check with the rest of the Gurnee crew. What time were you thinking?

Mazduh 02-10-2012 11:58 PM

We were probably going to go during the day around noon since we both have work off... figure it might be less crowded..

You guys missed a good show. As expected, the crowd was extremely light on a Monday. Traffic going into the city even cooperated. There was still free parking still available on 21st in front of my old place.

As for the show, I loved the Miata Roadster. All I can say is WOW. The special editon is a miata with a black roof, not exciting. It was nice to see the Astons there which are always a favorite of mine. MP4 was nice, but meh. The Toyotaru FR-S/BRZ kicks ass and I was so glad to see it. They wouldn't let you sit inside or pop the hood though.

Ford had a GT500 strapped to some rollers and they fired it up and dropped the hammer down. That was pretty cool, although too many had faith they strapped it down and stood right I front of it. I don't trust carnies that much myself. The Fiat Abarth is pretry cool looking. I loved its 15" 4 lug wheels, i want to know the pattern. My cousin and I proved it can seat four. You just have to be 5-6 and no more then the 145 I weigh or the 115 his scrawny ass weighs. Even then, my head hit the roof and rear window. But, it is as it looks, a car for us midgets.

I was there today... It completely slipped my mind to jump on here and see about getting one of you're guys' numbers.

I think the Autoshow was pretty tame this year... Really disappointed Honda and Toyota weren't doing anything new. Really no buddy was except mazda and hyundai. I think the veloster turbo is god-aweful and they ruined the genesis coupe. That Red NC with the black ht was sexy, I really think the NC will be my next car. The spyder was very awesome too! I really hope mazda's next mazdaspeed is the mazda2. Something about the ms3 drivetrain in a 2 screams awesome to me even if it is fwd.

I did like Mercedes new lineup, I really want the new slk. Chevy kinda surprised me too with what ever that coupe thing was in the back.

Ford's show didn't change one bit from last year if you ask me, but I still love me some laguna seca!

flying_solo 02-14-2012 09:13 AM

Yeah, what was that silver coupe thing with a big ugly Chevy log on it's hood? It was like looking at a really hot chick only to gravitate to this massive ugly mole with hair coming through on her nose.

Track 02-14-2012 09:59 AM

I agree Phil. The NC really is a great car, especially with a new suspension.

flying_solo 02-14-2012 10:22 AM

The spider just looked sexy with those R-Comps on her. I should have taken a photo but I was too busy FAP'ing.

Wouldn't of minded those advan wheels too!

Did anyone else see the Fiat Arboth? I know soon as they hit the street and I find an owner I'm going to buy those OZ Superleggera's off him! I've been lusting after those wheels for years now!

flying_solo 02-14-2012 02:30 PM

Yes, they are sexy. I was saying the same thing.
