MF-Brain 12-24-2011 04:08 PM

I want to do something like this underneath the radio, not the same thing.

Ug, I did that with mine. Complete ignition control via toggles on the dash:
https://www.miataforumz.com/attachme...ine=1324791999
From left to right:
S2000 starter button-Fans-clutch switch-hazards-lights up-accessories-ignition (on position of key)

A few notes: It's very fun, and slightly practical in some ways. Clutch switch is nice, supposedly saves some life of the bearings until they get oil? Whatever. Also the accessories really only controls my wipers and blower right now, but it used to do the radio too. That was nice on track, as I could turn everything off, without fear of smacking my hand on the wipers or turning my radio on if my hand slipped off the shifter. Stupid reasons really.

Its not terribly hard to wire, but I honestly wish I hadn't done it. It gets a little old, not only flipping 3 switches and pushing a button to start it, but explaining what it is, and the worry of security. Its not a weight savings as I left the ignition module in to lock the steering wheel if I'm in a bad neighborhood. The one time I think I'm in a good neightborhood and leave the key in is going to leave a easy target for a car thief though. Not that it's my DD.

install there. i like the clutch switch idea, and FP definitely, i think i will put a switch for the power antenna so when im in the Downtown area i dont have to have the antenna up.

MF-Brain 12-26-2011 05:04 PM

so put it inline on this wire in question and done.

That way if you want to go back to the stock sensor you can just disconnect the wideband signal wire.

same on the NA? best way to do it.

MF-Brain 01-06-2012 09:12 PM

have you installed you wbo2 yet?

RedTurboMiata 01-06-2012 10:01 PM

no i was asking if i could take the stock one out a use that place if not i havnt wielded in the supplied one yet.

MF-Brain 01-06-2012 10:07 PM

yes. probably need to stuff the controller under the master and wire back through the grommet back to under the dash.

RedTurboMiata 01-06-2012 10:10 PM

i have a 3ish foot cord from the 02 to module

flying_solo 01-06-2012 11:51 PM

I like the switches Curly. @Red, I like that panel as well, but the starter button seems out of place to me there.

RedTurboMiata 01-06-2012 11:57 PM

I'm not doing a starter button, right now at least. Maybe down the road, but I thin I would put it where the cig lighter is.

flying_solo 01-06-2012 11:59 PM

I think that is a lot sexier place for it.

Can be done if you sacrifice the little cuby like Red has:

Only picture i have of the old setup, sorry.

RedTurboMiata 01-07-2012 10:44 AM

i like that, i dont like the little cuby there anyway.

flying_solo 01-07-2012 11:04 AM

Wow, now that looks awesome!

curly 01-07-2012 11:08 AM

I still have the panel if you want me to ship it to you, either one of you. I have no use for it anymore.

RedTurboMiata 01-07-2012 11:09 AM

im not doing a starter button, but if i was that woulda been sweet

flying_solo 01-07-2012 12:11 PM

Heck yeah Curly, this is Red's thread so I'll give him first dibs. If he doesn't want it, pm me your paypal info.

all yours man, i got a nice piece of stainless steel we found in the garage today, that is just perfect for a switch panel.

flying_solo 01-07-2012 05:31 PM

Awesome, this made my day.

RedTurboMiata 01-15-2012 11:52 AM

hey since this is a parallel instal do i need to hook up the narrowband output from the Wideband controller to the stock ecu?

flying_solo 01-15-2012 05:21 PM

Red, I don't know the answer to you question. It's actually one of mine as I begin to build my MS3. But, I am curious, did you add another bung for a sideband or replace your narrowband with the wide?

replaced narrow

flying_solo 01-15-2012 05:42 PM

And you are looking to see if you need to run to your OEM to keep from throwing a CEL correct?

curly 01-15-2012 06:05 PM

Unless he's still planning on running parallel like a early 2000's newb, it won't throw a CEL.

Either way, the wideband should be able to give a narrow band output, there's a special wire on the wideband that gives a simulated narrow band signal specifically to "fool" OEM ECUs.

flying_solo 01-15-2012 09:23 PM

I guess I'm an early 2000s n00b as well. I want to pass emissions without ripping it all out every two years. Just need a working odbII. We don't have the crazy inspections like CA or so I'm told.

capitalcrew 01-15-2012 09:34 PM

You should be able to turn off any CELs with MS so you can pass inspection.

i dont really feel like re wiring the ms so im rocking the parallel install, i guess im lazy :dunno: . but i was asking if i should hook up that narrowband signal or not.
