Is idle control valve a turbo add-on? I am not really familiar with it on n/a 1.6. Not sure how to check it. It does hold vacuum at 15.

no its directly under the tb, should have a fitting coming off and going into the plastic pipe for the throttle body. if its not connected or has cracks, then it will not open the afm causing it not to start.

There is an air tube that comes off that and goes to the crossover tube, right? Yes, it's hooked up. And I checked the CAS. It was installed right. Actually it's not possible to do it wrong as one of the tangs is flared. So I replaced the original one. I checked some grounds. The wiring to the AFM is intact.

Still at a loss.

take a screwdriver, push the flappers on the afm open and try to start it.

Does the 1.6 have a crank pulley sensor like the 1.8? I wonder if anything moved down there.

Have you verified the fuel pump is running and humming when you jumper it? I recently had an episode where there was a little fuel present so it would smell and leak out when the lines were taken loose but the FP wasn't running constantly like it should and wasn't really making any pressure. It deceived me for awhile.

i dont think i has a crank pulley sensor, and he said he did a fuel pressure test and got like 45psi or something like that.
do you have access to a known good ecu? may swap that in and give it a shot.

I know a guy with a spare ecu. He is going to loan me that tonight. I will see if I can get it going with propping open the AFM, then try the ecu switch. Wish me luck.

Well, it's not the CAS. It's not the ECU, I changed that. And it's not the AFM.

^What this guy said. Does the pump hum 100% of the time while it is jumpered and the key is in the run position?
