I made a coolshirt system for the track which circulates icewater from a cooler in the trunk through capillaries woven in a t-shirt worn under my multilayer fire suit. It uses a boat bilge pump to provide the impetus.

Went to work early and came home late so no test yet. Probably not tonight either for the same reason. I need a cocktail.

Went to Sebring last weekend. I was dying in my firesuit from the heat.
Then I attached the coolshirt lines and turned it on.

**Best single trackday modification ever!**

I don't know how I could say it any clearer. At that point it was better than the turbo, the suspension, the brakes, the seats, anything.

So the question now is, did you notice much heatsoak? and would you recommend something like this for long drives in a non ac equipped car?

If I was setting it up for longer durations I would use a much larger cooler for increased capacity. I will be insulating the lines from the cooler to the driver's seat to prevent waste of capacity and increase efficiency. My little one is currently good for 45 minutes.

If you are going to make your own, I used this article as a model: Roo ***: DIY Cool Shirt

my thought for a street use or maybe even endurance, would change the cooler for one of those 12v coolers. They dont get super cold from what i hear, but they do keep it cool. so ice plus one of those would increase your cooling time hopefully significantly but at the cost of drawing more power. my .02, im going to start looking into something to stay cool while enjoying my non ac miata, and reinstalling ac is not an option because turbo....
