Default 04-05 Mazdaspeed Miata Thread

Post anything and everything to do with the 2004-2005 Mazdaspeed Miatas.

Guess I'll start with one or two pictures of my Black Mica:

I was just out with another Black Mica that popped up in the area. A chick drives it too! I got in it and asked why she had a 5spd shift **** and she goes... uhh cause it's a 5spd? I'm like ummm MSM's don't have 5spds stock. Her car was bone stock mind you. So tonight she found out she has a 99 5spd trans in her car...lmao

She wouldn't believe me either till I looked under the hood and pointed out the aftermarket clutch line and slave cylinder.

How does a 5 speed end up in a MSM and the owner doesn't know how it happened? I wonder what other MSM factory items that car is lacking...

My MSM 6 speed came from a guy who went to the 5 speed. He preferred the ratios..

Its just less shifting the last gear ratio is the same for the 5speed and the 6speed. The only thing the 6speed dose is keep the car closer to the power band through the gears.

Since when did having a clutch determine how many gears you have in the transmission? How do you know the transmission is from a 99? 5 spd and 6 spd cars use the same clutch lines/slave cylinders...

Wouldn't it have been easier to just point out the lack of a turbo and piping vs pointing out stuff that would be the same as a 5 or 6 speed? Maybe its just me?

Well... Sitting in the car, since there was no 6th gear to put the shifter into...

And I guess I worded it weird. But I ment that the aftermarket stuff just verified the fact that there was work done.

Dunno why I said 99... I really don't know what year it is.

But I'm installing a tbi tube for her soon, gunna get a looksie under the car while I do.
