You should maybe update your profile to reflect not having a naturally aspirated 1990 as your primary Miata. I just noticed that.

All I've done recently is drive it to work and back, aside from one trip to the Vanilla Bean Café. A small restaurant / hangout for bikers and Ferrari types...if you can imagine that. Outdoor patio where you can see the cars / bikes drive in and out. They have great buffalo burgers, as well as being the restaurant where Coke introduced Vanilla Coke a few years ago. Nice place in rural Connecticut, with no roads that aren't fun to drive on.

Last weekend was spent stacking firewood. We now have seven cords of seasoned wood ready for Winter!

Next weekend, I need to replace one of the foam strips I used to seal off the radiator. The tight compression fit I had wasn't tight enough. This time I'll use chemistry (contact cement) and mechanical (bolts with fender washers or cable ties).

I need to look around for a rattle also. I know.....look at the last thing I fixed....the chassis braces under the car. Jackstands and stacked firewood backups again. At least I have plenty of firewood.

The MSM is for travel and special occasions. The NA is my commuter/errand runner/most fun I've ever had car. Given a choice between the NA and the MSM, I go with the NA. My wife tolerates the NA and really likes the MSM.

Replaced the right rear pads, rotor and caliper on my 2001. The job was kicking my butt all Monday - the parking brake bracket wouldn't come off, the pad springs refused to stay where I put them and I had the noisemaking prong on the outer pad rather than the inner. Then yesterday, I attacked the caliper again, this time with an impact wrench and it gave up the parking brake bracket immediately. I swapped pad position and put the springs back in and they fit perfectly. I adjusted the parking brake (the lever was nearly vertical when the brakes were on).

I still have to do the left rear but rain is projected for the next five days and I don't want to try bleeding brakes in the humidity we have now.

I hate the rear brake adjusters. I always start turning in the wrong direction.

Talking Added Miles!!

My MSM just passed 195,000 miles. There will be a virtual party here in a few months, when it passes 200k miles.

Just for info, the 6UL rims (generation 1) have been on the car since 8,000 miles, and haven't shown any issues. For information, a local car wash uses "Wheel Brite" cleaner as their wheel cleaner. It does an incredibly good job on the Carbotech brake dust, without damaging the rim finish. I'm trying to find a local source - today's job. I may have to discuss this with the manufacturer, since it appears that it cannot be shipped through normal means....DOT regulation of some sort.

They can usually ship it ground but not air if it is hazardous.

Changed out the oil today. I'm getting good at that. Unfortunately, it's not a skill that's likely to make me a LOT of money. Sigh.

Also, I noticed that the adjustment nut and the lock not on the throttle cable bracket near the front of the intake manifold on the passenger side were loose. 2 twelve mm wrenches were all it took to tighten them up. Only trick is that the cable should have about an 1/16th to an 1/8th inch of deflection (slackness when the gas pedal is NOT depressed. If the cable is tight, the throttle will be partially open, and the engine, with no load will impress you with how fast it can hit redline!! It is best to do that with the car in neutral.

I'd appreciate it if there were no requests for videos of that!!

Finally, I checked the spare tire for pressure. That should be inflated to 60 PSI. It tends to loose pressure over time....actually it loses the pressure 5 minutes BEFORE you get a flat! it's worth checking yours.

I thought I was the only guy who ever bothered to check spare tire pressure.
