some tlc and it will look good as new, as far as obd1 is concerned, there is no software. to check for codes you jump ten and ground at the diagnostic box under the hood on the driverside up toward the headlight, which will make the check engine light flash a X times, and you see what it correlates to.
IIRC obd1 is emissions exempt in some places, and the sensors and stuff are very simple to use and work on.

OBD1 cars can be modified with relative impunity in many jurisdictions that otherwise have emissions compliance regulations. That makes them more desirable in certain states/metro areas. That's really what it is about.
My car has the same Montego Blue and tan leather color scheme. And my clearcoat has taken a beating as well, lol.

I was planning on it until I saw the prices,, but not out the window altogether..
I was under the illusion I could do a small one for a grand or so but wasnt really planning on 3g's
