Uh, no. They need to make more too or a lot of other people working for them and with them don't get to make more. I have been in the top 10% of wage earners before and it didn't mean someone else had to go on food stamps that year. It did mean that several more people got hired back then directly because I was making so much. When wage earners (including company owners) do things well and cause their companies to do better they can be paid more and other people within the company might be able to be paid more too or new people might also be hired.
Don't believe the class envy hatred. It is written by people with axes to grind.
Hey look, a picture:

@6 Shooter agreed.
@Red What would be consider the top 25%
I watched that wreck last night during the race. That was pretty nuts. I bet there are some rule changes for next year. Nothing like mechanical failure sending you flying into a Turbine with a big ole tank of Jet-A to explode all over you. I would have evacuated my colon if I were him. I'm really surprised that track didn't have more melting on it. That stuff burns hot.
I'm not Normally a NASCAR fan and only watched because I had to work and a coworker was there. But, that was one pretty crazy race. I think if you just cruised around and didn't hit anyone you were in the top 20! I like how the announcers commented "Now we really have seen everything."

I make that cutoff with plenty of room. That being said, I wouldn't mind rolling in $500k/year. I could then afford my own private airstrip, hanger, small farm, a reasonable car collection and perhaps a racing budget without feeling guilty.
I've met a lot of self made men and while some are serious DB, many are cool guys. A lot of the Porshce/Viper/Vette racers are loaded and many are pretty cool guys at the track. Most just worked hard, had an idea and took advantage of an opportunity they saw. The two biggest keys were they had an idea and acted on it. I don't have the nuts to take those kind of risks. Now that I have a little kid with special needs, I'm even less inclined to take risks. So, I may not ever make $500k/year, but I'm pretty happy where we are at and I don't hate the top 10%.
Just politicians.
