Default My slow and probably never updated thread!

No pictures as of now - it's all just theory, talk and a garage full of random stuff to be put in.

Plans for the spring/summer:

FM's Frame Rail reinforcements - Purchased

Audio Upgrade +6 speakers and 4 tweeters (putting in tweeters into the headrest and door panel, another set of speakers into the door panels, a custom made box to fit two more speakers). Gonna run a Phoenix Gold 5 channel amp with a 10" sub. - Purchased

Pulling out the interior and trying to find a cheap solution to making it look brand new, there's some cracks on the dash - and rips in the carpet.

Rust is starting to build up around the rear quarter panel and a bit in the rocker panel - going to grind it down to metal, spray it with rust paint. Eventually paint the whole car.

New Rad (open to cost effective solutions)

New suspension (also open to suggestions - right now I'm running Racelands and they blow dick. I'm looking to run flush but not slammed, might go back to shocks & springs)

Custom exhaust - I have a 5zigen fireball muffler in my possession, I'm gonna work around that and possibly run 2.5" piping all around

Rebuilding a 1.6 (I know, going 1.8 route is "better" but I already have a spare 1.6 with low (76k) miles on it, with a tranny). At the moment my engine is at 220k~ and has a few problems - some of which are head gasket leak, slipping clutch and random coolant leaks that I just can't seem to diagnosis without pulling the motor out.

Steering Wheel (Momo)

Hard Dog Hardcore Hardtop Double Diagonal roll bar

Turboing that rebuilt 1.6 - don't have anything specific in mind, but a t25 turbo from a buddy's R32 is what I got to work with.

HKS BOV , Intercooler , Downpipe , Turbo Manifold , MegaSquirt PNP.

Thats all I got in mind for now. Will update with pictures soon!

Just curious, where are you going to put the box with the last two speakers? I thought about trying to upgrade sound in my Miata but I already barely have enough room to carry an extra sweater in the car lol.

I got my dad to make me two custom boxes that will fit a 6 1/2 inch speakers each. They're small enough to fit between the seat and soft top, behind the seat.

Watch MT for a gently used Koyo. You see one every few months. Same for your Turbo 1.6 kit. They sell for cheap over there. As for suspension, I got the Flying Miata VMax and Sways with 949 adjustable end links and love it for it's price. I haven't experimented with other setups though. The FM rails are great, especially if your a slammed. They protect your underbody.

Rust is a bitch, I have surface rust on all bare metal bits in the engine that I'm currently wire brushing/sand blasting and then I'm going to powder coat/paint them. Salt isn't nice to metal eh?

for your interior, look for wrecked miatas or miatas being parted out on classifieds on some forums/kijiji/ebay.. its just dash and carpet anyways.

good luck joey

A Mishimoto 36mm radiator is what I would recommend for a turbo car in your climate. I love my 52mm.
