lol, not even touching that subject

So, boxes are starting to arrive and I took piktars of said booxes.

Silicone intakes sent me some snazzy stuff. This 2" 90 degree couple is so I can successfully clock my turbo down. When I sold the 2554r and bought the Begi 2870, I had an issue with reusing the old piping setup. The larger compressor housing was not playing nice and it was just not aesthetically pleasing. I think the clocked down look is much cleaner and appealing to the eye.

Now that I that coupler in, I decided to use my old 2.5" 90 degree coupler and make a new intake since the 2870 has a larger inlet. Easy peasy using a straight piece of aluminum to join the filter and coupler. Again, I think the black silicone is a lot cleaner than the old steel pipe I was using.

I had to pull the turbo so I could get a wastegate gasket out and measure for a super secret new turbo project, so why not take a picture!

This is essentially my hotside intercooler piping. Much cleaner and neater than what I was running. Less bends, less mess and now a traditional bar&plate intercooler vs. the old Begi/FM monstrosity. Just waiting for it to be delivered, lol.

Overall I'm pretty happy with it. Less bends, less couplers, beaded ends and nearly two feet less piping for just the hotside. Better than all this is that the cost my hotside piping setup is 35 dollars; budget ballin' . The coldside will be the same old FM silicone setup.

I'll post some pics of my heep soon.

Meanwhile, my new tuning laptop came in and so did my new intercooler, but CXracing sent me the correct one, just with the wrong end tanks

Rather than go through the hassle of sending it back and waiting again for what might be a still incorrect unit, I'm going to take the intercooler and a piece of scrap 2.5" pipe to a local fabricator and have him change the endtanks for me.

Thoughts on this?

Not sure really, I would give them a chance. or are they requiring you to send the whole thing back?

I'd have to send the whole thing back and they won't ship the new one until they get this one back. My friend went through a similar thing a while back with CXracing. I'm not that upset, to be honest. You get what you pay for (well not really, in my case, lol).

hehe, your call. If it was me, I would cheap out and send it back, but thats just me. You don't have any "deadlines" coming up right? I would work on another part of the car for now.

After talking it over with my brothers on MT, they steered my to the same conclusion as you. I'm sending it back tomorrow.

More pics coming tomorrow! Coolant reroute, new radiator, fan shroud and tuning with my new netbook.

Thanks for the props. But you would be amazed at how little I spend on my car. Over the years I've learned the art of wheelin' and dealin' from the guys on MT. It's amazing how much money you can save buying used parts and doing trades.

turbo manifold/downpipe + door speakers - 300 dollars from a member's shed.
FM silicone piping - free in trade
2554r ball bearing turbo - trade. Sold for 500 dollars
2870 - 100 dollars
RC injectors - trade for old supercharger parts
etc....

Yes. This is true. Be patient, buy used parts.

I've been happily turbo'd for a long time and been through several different turbos and power levels. I highly doubt if I've even broken the 5 grand mark.
