mitsubishi designed it to be protected so someone couldnt break into the under hood area, go figure right. so you see very little of it, and what you see is not enough to pop the hood.

IDK the tid bit I grabbed from the nets said you could do it. But I do not have an Eclipse so I don't know. If you are saying not possible then I believe you.

I say go from the bottom, but you will need a very long screw driver.

the cutoff wheels are looking good. but she will probably be taking it to the stealership because im just getting pissed of with it.

well the theory is true, when all else fails use a bigger hammer. turns out if you hit the latch in the right spot it pops right open.

Have you tried going from under the car yet? Getting to the latch from under should be no problem. That's probably what the dealership is going to do.

Ha, yea its already open. today is the day where it gets the maintenance it needed 5 weeks ago. its a good thing she was in Paris during that time.
